I-5 and I-405 highway lanes will be closed or reduced in Tacoma for overnight and weekend construction work through August 21-22, according to Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) records.
On I-5 northbound, two lanes will close nightly from 8 p.m. Thursday, August 20, to 5 a.m. Friday, August 21, between SR 503 and Dike Access Road. Additionally, the right lane on I-5 northbound will be closed from milepost 76.5 to 78 beginning at 6:52 p.m. on August 20. On I-405, multiple closures are scheduled: northbound express toll lane will be closed nightly from 8:30 p.m. August 17 to 5 a.m. August 21, and southbound lanes will close nightly from 10:30 p.m. August 19 to 5 a.m. August 21.
WSDOT advises drivers to plan ahead for delays and use caution. The I-405 southbound closure on August 24-25 is scheduled for pavement repair and crack sealing, with two lanes closing from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
