Pierce Transit extends free cooling center rides through July 23

πŸ”Š Listen Β· narrated by Aiden

Pierce Transit is extending free rides to cooling centers through end of service on Thursday, July 23, due to continued high temperatures. The extension follows an initial announcement that offered free rides from July 19 through July 21.

The free round-trip service is available for passengers who tell drivers they are traveling to or from a cooling center or shelter. Cooling centers are open in Tacoma, Lakewood, Puyallup, Parkland and Gig Harbor. Passengers must inform drivers of their destination to qualify for free rides.

Pierce Transit will monitor the heat forecast and may extend or reduce the free ride offer further.
