Tacoma to Collect Community Ideas for District 5 Project

πŸ”Š Listen Β· narrated by Aiden

Tacoma residents in District 5 can now submit project ideas for a $1.6 million capital project focused on decarbonization and climate resiliency. The city will collect community input at a July 29 event at Wapato Park, with a deadline of September 30, 2026 for proposals.

The project, funded by a $650,000 grant from the Washington State Department of Commerce, aims to address environmental concerns in a community defined as environmentally overburdened under state law. Mayor Anders Ibsen and District 5 Council Member Joe Bushnell will attend the kickoff event to gather community ideas and answer questions.

Residents who live, work, learn, or play in District 5 can submit proposals through Engage Pierce County or at community events.
