Tacoma Drive-By Shooting, Suspect Fleeing Handcuffs, Loose Goat

πŸ”Š Listen Β· narrated by Aiden

Three men were arrested following a drive-by shooting in University Place early Sunday morning, according to Pierce County Sheriff's Office records.

On July 3 at 1:10 a.m., deputies responded to reports of a Dodge Charger firing gunshots at the Duo Apartments. When deputies arrived, they saw additional shots fired from the vehicle and attempted to stop it, leading to a high-speed chase exceeding 100 mph. The vehicle was later located by Tacoma Police near Titlow Beach, where three menβ€”ages 19, 21, and 22β€”were taken into custody. The 19-year-old faces two counts of drive-by shooting and one count of possessing a stolen firearm. The 21-year-old is charged with one count of drive-by shooting. The 22-year-old faces one count of drive-by shooting and one count of possessing explosive devices, including illegal fireworks and two improvised 'tennis ball bombs.'

A separate incident occurred on July 1 when deputies stopped a vehicle traveling at 70 mph on Steele Street. During the stop, a gun was found in the glove compartment. The 38-year-old driver, a convicted felon, refused to exit the vehicle, broke free while being searched, and fled on foot with handcuffs on. He was later recaptured and arrested for resisting arrest, unlawful possession of a firearm, and drug distribution. Deputies found cocaine, opioids, methamphetamine, and $2,184 in cash on his person, along with drug distribution items in the vehicle.

Deputies also chased a loose goat near Pacific Lutheran University on June 29, according to records. The goat was reportedly weaving in and out of traffic on 122nd Street South and Park Avenue South. Animal Control assisted in capturing the animal.
