Multiple road closures and lane restrictions begin this week for maintenance and utility work across Tacoma and surrounding areas, according to Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) updates.
Starting Wednesday evening, Aug. 5, the right lane of northbound State Route 522 will close from State Route 202 to the State Route 9 overpass until 3 a.m. Thursday. On the same night, two lanes of Interstate 90 between Eighth Avenue South and the floating bridge will close for maintenance. Both projects are scheduled to end early Thursday morning.
Other closures include a 10-mile stretch of SR 203 with alternating traffic from Sunday nights to Friday mornings until Aug. 28, and a 24-hour closure of SR 161 between 28th Avenue South and Military Road South from Aug. 7 to Aug. 17 for fish-passable culvert installation. WSDOT urges drivers to plan ahead for delays.
